About the program
AIR6500 is the RAAF’s $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.
Responsibilities
Working on the AIR6500 project the Network Architect will provide services including but not limited to:
· Lead the design on the Network Architecture across the AIR6500 solution
· Develop secure and resilient architectures to meet the AIR6500 needs
· Work with IPTs and System Architects to guide hardware requirements
· Drive security by design into the Network Architecture
· Lead the development of key AIR6500 technical documents and artefacts such as network solution description, trade studies and definition of requirements
· Establish the Network Architecture baseline, working with CM/DM team to manage the components, parts and assemblies within Configuration Management Tool
· Author technical documentation and develop Technical Data packs as required
· Contribute to the development and conduct of Technical Reviews
· Decompose and capture sub-system requirements within the requirements management tool, DOORSNG, including traceability and verification methodology
· Develop Test Plans, Procedures and Test reports as required
· Engage with AIR6500 IPTs and Specialty Engineering groups to ensure common understanding of requirements and design considerations
· Perform Trade Studies to evaluate possible technical substitutions as required
About you:
To be successful in this role you will also have:
· Experience in designing and implementing complex network architectures
· Advanced knowledge in routing, switching and firewall technologies
· Relevant qualifications, experience or certifications (e.g. CCNP/CCIE)
· Awareness of security frameworks, governance and compliance (e.g. ISM, PSPF)
· Extensive analysis skills with an ability to develop and evaluate alternatives to determine best value based on customer-provided performance weighting
· Proficient in concept development
· Advanced verbal communication skills including both speaking and listening to the customer
Any knowledge or awareness of:
o Model-based Systems development and model-based Engineering principles
o Ground-based Sensors
o Ground-based Effectors
o Infrastructure software technologies include virtualisation, multi-level security, cyber defence, network accreditation, information assurance, system management
o Infrastructure hardware technologies including computing (servers, clients, storage) network, cross domain solutions
o Agile Engineering Methodology
o Configuration Management principals and experience with configuration management tool EPDM
