Description of the job

About The Role:

Are you a community-minded leader who thrives in dynamic environments? Do you bring energy, creativity, and a people-first mindset to everything you do?

We’re looking for a confident, collaborative, and future-focused leader to champion library and community experiences at Ngutungka Henley - our newest integrated Community Centre and Library and a vibrant community hub. In this role, you’ll lead and support a team of Library & Information Officers, fostering a culture of collaboration, curiosity, and continuous improvement. You’ll drive performance, strengthening team capability, and ensuring the consistent delivery of brilliant customer experiences.

Working alongside fellow Team Leaders in the Community Experience (Libraries) team, you’ll facilitate service excellence, overseeing the day-to-day operations, identifying and acting on opportunities, and ensuring our services are locally responsive. Your leadership will position our libraries as vibrant community hubs, providing outstanding customer support and equitable access to resources. You’ll help create a space where people feel supported, connected, and inspired to learn, explore, and belong.

This is your opportunity to apply your leadership, passion for libraries, and commitment to community in a role that makes a real and lasting impact.

About You:

You’re a progressive and compassionate leader who is deeply passionate about people - your team, your peers, and your community. You value authenticity, empowerment and innovation, and are ready to roll up your sleeves and lead by example.

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Proven experience in leading high-performing teams within libraries or community-facing services, or strong transferable leadership capability from related fields.
  • The ability to foster a culture of collaboration, agility, and inclusion, where everyone feels they belong.
  • A customer-first mindset, with the ability to design and deliver responsive experiences that reflect the diverse needs of community.
  • Strong operational oversight and attention to detail, managing day-to-day activity with confidence and clarity.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement, data-informed decision making, and community engagement.
  • Confidence navigating change, and the ability to lead others through evolving service models and priorities.

About Our Organisation:

The City of Charles Sturt is a vibrant community home to around 130,000 people across 105 different cultures. We champion unity in diversity and strive to reflect our community within our workforce - wherever you are from, you are home in the City of Charles Sturt.

We prioritise customer and employee experience and a supportive environment where everyone belongs. With over 500 employees, our people and our community "Means the World" to us which highlights the importance of our places, our people and our service to the community.

We work flexibly and support one another. Visit our careers page to explore the benefits of joining our team and talk to us about what flexibility works for you.

About Our Team:

Join our libraries team to connect, discover and inspire our community every day. The team continues to grow across two new community hubs that host a wealth of books, entertainment, events and increasing resources for all ages. Join a passionate team with a love for literacy and all things learning.

The Detail:

The position is offered on a part-time (0.8FTE), fixed-term basis until 30 June 2026 and is classified at Level 5, with a salary range of $100,774 to $105,111 per annum (pro-rata) + Super + Annual Leave Loading.
